"The essential companion to the CasaXPS data system"

the actual size spine for Part 1

“The CasaXPS Cookbook” is much more than the user manual for CasaXPS. Many of the features of the system require an understanding of why as well as how an operation is performed and so a large part of this volume is devoted to explaining the context for a sequence of data reduction steps. The mechanism of these steps is addressed within discussions of the analysis of specific samples, but the essential functions of CasaXPS and the overall structure of the program are presented as separate generalised reference topics.
Part 1 covers XPS and AES, with the book’s nineteen chapters arranged in five sections:-

• Introduction - a quick guide to functions and facilities.
• What CasaXPS Can Do - detailed descriptions, case studies and practical examples, spectrum backgrounds, lineshapes and curve fitting.
• Mathematical Methods and Image Processing - Monte Carlo error analysis, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Singular Valued Decomposition (SVD and SVDsort) for images and information combing.
• The CasaXPS System and some Background to XPS - file structures, file conversion, customising help files, some XPS interpretation insights and a brief description of new instrumentation and methods.
• Appendices - ISO 14976 annotated, glossary, formulae, references and resources, x-ray energies, frequently asked questions.

The authors have, inter alia, many years experience in practical surface analysis, computer based instrumentation, programming, and mathematical methods.
