An acolyte is "a helper" - a "Netscape Plug-In", if you like, or at least that's my definition.
Collins dictionary (1980) puts a more religious slant on it, but that wasn't what I had in mind. The Shorter Oxford (1987) entry sees the wider aspects, and does away with any lingering doubts on false humility...(Acolyte doesn't carry candles - or cans - for anyone! Libra, "Son of a book", not Aquarius.) -
and if you want any more justification, then

And the ICI stuff is "ACROLITE"....
